COORDINATOR FOR MARINE TURTLE RESEARCH

Deasy has a great interest in the field of Marine Science. She graduated with a bachelor degree of Science in Wildlife, Fish, and Conservation Biology from the University of California Davis, in 2002. In 2014, She graduated with a master’s degree of Science in Marine Science from the San Jose State University (Moss Landing Marine Laboratories). She currently works as the Coordinator for Marine Turtle Research in the Science for Conservation Program. She primarily responsible for designing and implementing research projects that support marine turtle conservation at the Jeen Womom Coastal Park, Tambrauw Regency, West Papua Province.

    Primarily responsible for designing and implementing research projects that support marine turtle conservation at the Jeen Womom Coastal Park, Tambrauw Regency, West Papua Province. Tasks include: managing the marine turtle monitoring and nest protection databases, publishing research results in scientific journals, writing funding proposals, and writing reports to project donors.
  • Nesting Beach Program Coordinator, Research and Community Service Institute of the State University of Papua, Manokwari — Jul 2017 – Sep 2019
    Primarily responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of the nesting beach team at the Jeen Womom Coastal Park, Tambrauw Regency, West Papua Province. Tasks include: developing work plan, conducting monthly monitoring and evaluation, recruiting and training team members and local patrollers, writing funding proposals, and writing reports to project donors.
  • Research and Conservation Coordinator for the Abun Leatherback Program, Research and Community Service Institute of the State University of Papua, Manokwari — Jan 2014 – Present
    Primarily responsible for providing support to the nesting beach and community program. Tasks include: writing funding proposals, writing reports to donors, collecting marine turtle monitoring data, and helping the community team in building capacity of local communities.
